Random Book Exchange With My Sister

A couple of weeks ago I ordered the following books for my sister. She LOVED these books when she was little. I'm sure she checked every single Tom and Pippo book out from the library multiple times. I don't think she ever owned any though so I thought I'd give her a little reminder of her childhood.

Then, a few days later I got a call from her saying that she'd found some things for me at the thrift store. And this is what arrived:

OMG, I was the biggest Babysitter's Club and Sweet Valley High fan ever. I don't think I read all of the "Little Sister" books, but I definitely read ALLLLL of the regular Babysitter's Club books. I read all of the Sweet Valley High books too. Little known fact: SVH was also turned into a TV show. I own them on DVD. Jealous? You should be. I was quite the reading enthusiast back in the day. In fact, the only trophy I ever received was for reading the most books in my 1st grade class. Yep, I'm super cool. My mom used to take me to the book store all the time to pre-order Babysitter's Club books before they were released. I just couldn't get enough of them. I also might have forced my family to travel from Oklahoma to Texas just to meet Ann M. Martin (the author) at a book signing in a north Texas mall. Have I revealed too many of my nerd like qualities? Probably. Don't judge.

Surprisingly I never really babysat when I was younger. You'd think that people would have trusted me more. Obviously I did ample research on the subject. I'm going to blame it on the fact that my street was filled with old people when I was growing up and there just weren't a lot of kids around. Sadly, I actually babysat a few months ago for someone. 25 might be too old for that (it wasn't a family member or close friend). And when the "employer" told me that my husband was welcome to come too, I actually thought it my head "oh no, I would never let a boy come over while I'm babysitting." See, BSC taught me well!

My sister also sent me another David Sedaris book to read since she saw my post about the other one of his that I recently finished. I'm sure this one will be hilarious too.

and now that my girls are grown and away from home, three, very precious little girls live across the street...oh, but the rest of us are all still old folks. ;)
